This year's faculty excursion to the Wendelstein with a visit to the observatory.
Around 75 employees set off on a very special event: a faculty excursion to the Wendelstein - one of the most striking mountains in Bavaria with a magnificent view and exciting history.
Even the bus ride there together created a good atmosphere: the SOM employees set off on a varied day with lots of laughter and anticipation. The group split up at the foot of the Wendelstein: those who enjoyed hiking got off there and set off uphill with motivation - a sporting challenge with many beautiful views. The other part of the group continued on to the cog railroad, which took them to the summit in an adventurous way.
Once at the top, both groups met again in a good mood - exhausted but happy. In small groups, we went back up to the observatory. There they not only had a unique view of the mountains, but were also given a guided tour of the observatory, an LMU facility. There were fascinating insights into astronomical research on the Wendelstein. The guided tours offered interesting perspectives on the universe - and provided amazement and new insights for many.
Afterwards, the participants enjoyed the sun and the view from the Wendelstein platform in a convivial get-together. With fantastic weather, good food and lots of conversation, the good mood was palpable. Those who wanted to could make a short detour to the chapel and down into the Wendelstein cave.
The joint descent on the cog railroad rounded off the experience. Once at the bottom, the day came to a relaxed end with a small drink before returning to everyday life by bus - full of wonderful memories and a strengthened team spirit.
